Back in November, 2008, I got another of those ‘hypey’ emails from one of 
the gurus (can’t remember which one) touting Alex Goad and his new Google Conquest membership program. Alex promised to teach me how to make money as an affiliate marketer in many different niches. To be honest, I didn’t know Alex from Adam, but decided to take a flyer anyway and sign up for his program.
What did I have to lose? Nothing, really. After all, he did offer the same 60 day, no questions asked money back guarantee that he is offering this time around.
So, I Got Sucked in By the Hype… Again!
The bare faced reality is that I was truly sucked in by Alex Goad’s sales pitch. The ultimate reality is that Alex Goad is darned good at writing sales copy and making videos. Maybe he’s one of the best in the industry. At the $997 entry price, I sure hoped that he could deliver on his promises.
Regardless, I decided to totally focus on Google Conquest beginning in late December with the 30 day quick start training, and then took up the 60 day challenge which started in late January .
I followed all the steps from the training course, took action, and by the end of the 60 day guarantee period, I was personally convinced that continuing the course, even with the ongoing $97 per month membership fee was very much worth it.
I was finally beginning to actually make a little bit of money online, even covered the $997 and ongoing monthly fees plus much more in the 60 days, and truly felt that what I was learning was truly extraordinary and of great value.
So, basically, I’m now well on my way to a much higher level of financial security despite higher health care costs, likely higher inflation and most assuredly higher taxes on the way in the USA. Thanks be given to Alex Goad and Google Conquest.
But There Were Problems…
- For someone as inexperienced as I was, the training and the assignments came along at a much faster pace than I could manage, even though I was putting in 4-5 hours a day. Hence, the 60 day challenge was indeed a challenge.
- Despite the availability of the Forum to ask questions, I still felt pretty alone and insecure about whether I was doing the right things in the right way. The reality was that the forum turned out to be more of a hindrance and distraction than a help. Lot’s of people with differing viewpoints, etc.
- And, the topics jumped around so much, that I sometimes got sidetracked from what I really needed to be working on.
- Alex Goad is a true internet marketing genius, but he does tend to over delegate to his team, and they often diverge from plan and sometimes deliver conflicting viewpoints.
- Finally, some of the automation technology was not totally worked out yet, nor particularly easy to understand, slowing things still further.
