The use of classified ads on high Alexa rank sites is yet another way to attract traffic to your website, as well as to generate back links which are important for search engine ranking.

Part 6 – Classified Ads Marketing

There are huge numbers of people who typically search classified ad listings for their specific needs.  The key to using classified ads is to have a very well crafted headline that will quickly capture the attention of the reader who is exposed to multitudes of ads targeted to their particular need.  You’ll be competing with many,  so you’ll need to test your ad copy to ensure that it is effective.  Here are some classified ad sources that I’ve personally used:

Craigslist.org Alexa Rank 26
Backpage.com Alexa Rank 1,435
Kijiji Canada Alexa Rank 706
USFreeads.com Alexa Rank 7,804

Placing classified ads can be an effective way to attract clicks to your website if you have a narrowly targeted niche.  However, you need to be particularly good at writing emotionally responsive ad copy, as you have only a headline and a line or two of copy to attract attention.

Because each of these sites have relatively high Alexa ranking in the search engines, there is considerable SEO benefit to be gained by placing a series of different ads on these sites, each linking back to your website.  By doing so, you will build additional “link juice” for your site, and this can be very helpful in achieving a high site ranking for your particular keywords.

Indeed, a very fast way to achieve listing on Google and Yahoo with a newly posted website is to place ads on these free lists.    So, spending a few minutes a day posting ads on Craigslist or US Free Ads can be very beneficial to your traffic driving efforts.   However, I recommend avoiding automated blackhat type services which place thousands of ads per hour on Craigslist as this can get your IP address banned.
